As I prepare to travel to San Francisco this August for Inman's Connect conference, I look back on the past year of new contacts, business growth and relationships built. Last year was my very first time attending an Inman real estate conference and to say that I was impressed is not doing the word justice. The speakers, content, events and parties were nothing like any real estate conference I had ever attended.
As the name suggests, this real estate conference emphasizes the connections you will make. Inman Connect has a tremendous amount of networking receptions and parties to attend; each better than the last. These are not your typical networking receptions held at the office; the majority of events have open bars, DJs and noteworthy guests. Last year I won a $4,500 Matterport camera from a raffle. That party was definitely worth it!
I can personally attest that I was able to meet and create new relationships with top real estate professionals from all over the nation. These relationships inevitably end in referral business and additional business exposure.
I tell people that Inman Connect is "real estate meets TED Talks." There is a level of innovation and sophistication that the speakers bring which allows for content that will actually keep you awake while you furiously take notes. Brad Inman's mantra is that he wants "the winners, not the whiners" so he always has the top industry professionals on stage. You know that he only picks the best to speak because I spoke on a panel last year! (kidding...sort of)
I disagree with agents who argue that real estate conferences are too expensive and a week is too long to be away. It is your responsibility to your clients to grow your business and be the best real estate agent you can be. To do that you must invest in continued education and stay connected.

*I recommend buying tickets for the Innovator's Ball as well. That will be an incredible black tie event that I will be attending.
